Mark is one of the most unique designers in our industry. He has the mind of a painter, the brain of an architect, and the hands of a skilled sculptor and master carpenter. Mark has been thinking and living outside of the box his entire  life, which is why he is the head of design at Maverick Theory. Mr.Diaz has a detailed understanding of how to “functionally” design Hospitality spaces, because he actually worked in the industry for many years before committing to strictly design. a Miami native whose transnational background and travels have fueled his award-winning designs and concepts across the United States. Renowned for his fusion of modernism and warm progressiveness, Mark has crafted his signature style known as "RoughLUX".


With a Bachelor's in Architecture and Design from Florida International University, Mark's journey took him through leading hospitality design firms in Miami, New York, and Los Angeles. He played pivotal roles in revolutionizing South Beach's legendary hotspots, collaborating with industry innovators like Jack Penrod and Stephane Dupoux.
Mark's expertise extends to interior architecture and design for prestigious brands like Bergdorf Goodman and Cartier, before returning to Miami to transform its nightlife scene. His projects, including "The Electric Pickle" and "Don't Sit on the Furniture," earned acclaim and accolades as top-rated nightlife destinations.


Mark's national recognition soared as a finalist on HGTV's "Design Star" and through his lifestyle brand "Bully," featuring edgy home accessories exhibited at prestigious events like Art Basel Miami Beach.


In 2014, Mark joined forces with Jugofresh, winning the Hospitality Design Magazine award for brand redesign. His portfolio encompasses commercial marketplaces, boutique shops, and fast-casual restaurants, earning praise for projects like Novecento Midtown and The Fillmore.


Mark's journey continues with transformative projects across the United States, including acclaimed venues in Idaho, Rhode Island, and Indiana. In Los Angeles, he revitalized beloved eateries like Fratelli's cafe via LA.  He just finished KYU in Miami and is pressing on to other KYU locations.
